JOB OVERVIEW
Provide GIS Database administration support for the existing and future ArcGIS Server environment which includes SDE and Microsoft SQL Server for the City of Memphis Enterprise GIS. Provide GIS Analyst projects.
Scope of Work
- Microsoft SQL Server administration and maintenance functions of production GIS databases.
- Provide ArcGIS Server SDE administration for the enterprise Geodatabases.
- Provide technical standards including tools & platforms for the application development team.
- Create and maintain database operational documents.
- Implement data models, database structure design, backup and recovery processes.
- Installs and maintains development and production databases (e.g., SQL Server databases).
- Performs indexing and auditing of databases.
- Identify, test and resolve complex database issues (e.g. monitoring and tuning).
- Perform database system management functions (e.g. software installs, version upgrades and configurations management).
- Plan and implement data system automation, test procedures, system backups and database archive operations.
- Forecast near or long term data hosting capacity needs.
- Define, recommend and develop database standards, procedures and architecture.
- Ensure the metadata is compliant with FGDC standards for all city GIS data.
- Perform complex GIS analyses with a variety of data formats, Shape Files, Personal Geodatabases, Third Party data sources (Oracle, SQL Server, Excel, Access, etc.), images.
- Provide support and data creation, maintenance and distribution.
- Utilize the suite of ESRI GIS software including extensions to perform high-level analysis to support various mapping projects and web-based applications.
